Below you will find answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions about Andreas Letkovsky Architecture. Where are you located? We currently have one location: 229 Laurel Road East Northport, New York 11731 How long has Andreas Letkovsky Architecture been in business? The firm was established in 1994. Are you licensed and insured? Yes, we are licensed to practice in New York State. We currently carry general liability insurance, disability and worker's compensation insurance. What is your Professional License Number? Our license number is 023547. Can you provide references? We have lots of references and lots of client quality evaluations. How much do initial estimates cost? We offer a special introductory service called a Design Work Session. This is unlike the 'typical' consultations that most other architects offer. During this session, we will introduce you to all the steps necessary to make your project successful. We will teach you how to estimate the cost of construction before you have your drawings. Most importantly we will show you advantages of competitive bidding and how you can lower your construction costs dramatically without compromising quality. We charge a small nominal fee for this service. What payment methods are acceptable? We accept cash, checks and credit card payments. Do you know contractors and trades people? Do you know kitchen specialists, etc? Yes, as architects, we have come to know and utilize many very qualified contractors and trades specialists. In fact, our publication track record is testament to the many talented trades people we use. Can you help me find the right contractor? ALA can help you organize a design-build project format if you like by introducing you to a great contractor right from the start. Or, we can help you set up a competitive bid with a series of different contractors. If you already have a contractor, that’s fine too. Will you work with my own interior decorator? Yes, our architects will coordinate with your decorator if you have one. If you do not have you,we can assist you with the decorating. All our published projects today have been the result of our in-house decorating services. How do I get started with Andreas Letkovsky Architecture? Your first step will be to schedule a Design Work Session. You can call us or simply fill out the contact sheet on-line and we will call you. How do I know if I will need an architect? If you are adding or moving walls, if you are structurally altering your building you will most likely need an architect. I need to stay within a budget; can Andreas Letkovsky Architecture work within that budget and help me maintain it throughout the project? Maybe. A lot depends on how realistic your budget is and if you decide to add things to the project as you go through the process. At your Design Work Session, your architect will review cost estimating formulas with you and give you our best professional opinion if your budget is realistic. How long does it take to start work? When will the architectural drawings be finished? ALA normally starts your design within a few days after an agreement is finalized. The whole design process takes quite a bit of time to complete so normally the sooner you start the better. Sometimes, municipal approvals or specialized research is required which also takes time. We generally schedule client's projects for production in the order they come in. Who will manage my project? Who will be available to answer my questions when I call? ALA will assign a Project Manager who will be fully responsible for maintaining your project file and is fully aware of the status of your project as well as day to day communications. The Project Manager works directly alongside the Director of Technical Service and the Quality Director who are also available to handle any questions or concerns you may have. The Communications Director is in charge of scheduling meetings and appointments. Who will take care of permits? You, your contractor, ALA, or your permit expediter can secure the municipal approvals. The municipal fees will be your direct responsibility. Normally, the architectural drawings as well as other documents which are to be submitted we will prepare for you. Sometimes, specialized technical reports or studies are required. These can be provided at an extra cost. ALA is available to assist and you in this process. Will you be available to visit the site when construction starts? Yes, your architect will be available to assist you with inspecting the construction work as well as answering questions that may arise from the building department. Also, many clients have questions regarding paint colors or interior design related issues. We are available to assist you in these areas.
